Payments & Integrations Engineer

Key Responsibilities
• Implement basic checkout with Stripe during the Foundation phase
• Build support for multiple payment gateways and the payments flow inside the MVP builder during Phase 2
• Implement payment routing & failover, a fraud scoring engine (v1), and smart checkout rules during Growth & Scale
• Build out advanced fraud and risk rules, and support multi-currency and tax handling in Phase 5
• Integrate with partner platforms and third-party systems (e.g. Shopify, 3PL providers) via robust APIs
• Implement and maintain webhook infrastructure for real-time payment and order events
• Apply PCI-aware design principles throughout checkout and payment data handling
Required Skills & Experience
• Hands-on experience integrating Stripe and at least one of Adyen, Checkout.com, or NMI
• Strong understanding of 3DS, webhooks, and payment-gateway API patterns
• Working knowledge of PCI-DSS concepts and secure handling of payment data
• Experience building reliable, idempotent APIs for financial/transactional workflows
• Comfortable owning a high-stakes, revenue-critical part of the system end to end
Nice to Have
• Experience with fraud scoring, risk rules engines, or chargeback management
• Experience with multi-currency, tax calculation, or global payments compliance
• Prior integration work with Shopify, 3PL providers, or affiliate/attribution platforms
