Business Development Executive/Business Development Manager
Job Description:
This is a player-coach role: the BDM carries personal seller acquisition and key account targets while leading, mentoring, and directing BDEs. The BDM owns the seller pipeline end-to-end — from lead generation and outreach through onboarding, activation, and long-term retention. The BDM is also the primary bridge between the seller community and the Zlash product team, surfacing seller feedback that drives platform improvement.
● Own and drive the seller onboarding pipeline from cold outreach to fully activated seller account
● Personally manage acquisition of anchor sellers — large retailers, brand stores, and priority hyperlocal merchants
● Build and maintain a structured seller pipeline in the CRM, tracking stage, owner, and next action for every lead
● Own the CRM platform (e.g., HubSpot, Zoho CRM, or equivalent) — configuration, data hygiene, pipeline stage design
● Generate weekly CRM reports: pipeline health, conversion rates, seller activation status, churn signals
● Use CRM data to identify patterns — which seller categories onboard fastest, which need more support, where drop-off occurs
● Own the escalation layer for seller complaints, disputes, and platform issues that BDEs cannot resolve
● Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with high-value sellers to assess satisfaction and growth plans
Lead field seller acquisition programs — trade visits, merchant meets, market walkthroughs in target Kerala cities
● Co-lead the Zlash Market pop-up events (with the marketing team) as the seller-side point of contact
● Act as the voice of the seller inside Zlash — translate ground-level seller friction into actionable product insights
● Track competitor seller tools and report relevant gaps or opportunities to leadership
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or related field (MBA preferred but not mandatory)
● 3–6 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or marketplace seller management
● Proven track record of independently closing commercial accounts — verifiable with targets and actual numbers
● Prior experience in a startup, marketplace (Meesho, Flipkart seller team, Amazon seller acquisition), or SaaS sales environment is a strong advantage
● Malayalam fluency mandatory; English business communication proficiency required; Hindi is an advantage
