Build and Release Lead, Kochi

Job Description – Build & Release Technical Manager (Cloud Platforms)

Product Development

Job Summary

The Build & Release Technical Manager leads the Build & Release Engineering function and owns the day-to-day execution of the build, release, deployment, and environment management processes for cloud-native software products, primarily hosted on AWS. The role is accountable for the successful delivery of software releases by ensuring CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps practices, and deployment processes are reliable, secure, automated, and executed on schedule across all environments.

This is a technical management role requiring strong hands-on cloud and DevOps expertise combined with people leadership, release governance, and delivery ownership. The environment is primarily AWS; working knowledge of Microsoft Azure is a good-to-have, and the pipeline/tooling approach should remain reasonably cloud-agnostic where practical.

The Technical Manager partners closely with Development, QA, DevOps, Security, Infrastructure, Product Management, Architecture, and Customer Success teams to establish release governance, maintain deployment quality, improve software delivery efficiency, and ensure operational readiness across Development, QA, UAT, Staging, Production, and Disaster Recovery environments.

Key Responsibilities

Team & Delivery Management

Lead, mentor, and manage the Build & Release Engineering team—workload planning, performance management, hiring support, coaching, and skill development.
Own execution of the release calendar and delivery commitments across multiple concurrent product releases.
Run Release Readiness Reviews (RRR), facilitate Go/No-Go decisions, chair Release Governance meetings, and ensure effective cross-functional stakeholder communication.
Act as the primary technical escalation point for build, release, and deployment activities.
Lead production deployment bridges during critical releases and coordinate cross-functional issue resolution.
Release Management

Own the end-to-end release lifecycle, including planning, coordination, approvals, governance, release notes, and deployment documentation.
Manage scheduled releases, hotfixes, emergency releases, and rollback procedures.
Coordinate cross-functional release activities.
Conduct post-release reviews and root cause analysis where required.
Track release metrics and continuously improve release processes.
Build Management

Design, implement, and maintain automated build pipelines.
Optimize build performance, reliability, and reproducibility.

Maintain software versioning using Semantic Versioning where applicable.
Standardize build artifacts across environments.
Manage artifact repositories, software dependencies, and package management.
Troubleshoot build failures and improve build stability.
Cloud Deployment Management

Manage deployments across Development, QA, UAT, Staging, Production, and Disaster Recovery environments.
Deploy and manage applications on AWS using ECS/EKS, Lambda, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancer, and Auto Scaling.
Maintain working familiarity with Azure equivalents such as AKS, App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Azure Front Door, and Azure DevOps as a good-to-have.
