Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS / Azure)

About the role

Edstem Technologies is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, automate and run reliable, secure and scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. You'll own CI/CD, Kubernetes platforms and infrastructure as code, and work closely with development teams to speed up delivery. AI-assisted engineering with Claude is part of how we work every day, so you'll be expected to use it as a core part of your workflow.

Key responsibilities

Design, build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure, following best practices for availability, security and cost
Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, including reusable modules, state management and environment strategies
Design, deploy and run production Kubernetes clusters (EKS / AKS / self-managed), including networking, storage, RBAC, scaling and upgrades
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar
Use Claude (Claude Code or the Claude app) to speed up writing Terraform, Helm charts, pipeline definitions and scripts, and to help with troubleshooting and documentation, while staying responsible for correctness and security
Set up monitoring, logging, alerting and observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor)
Drive DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, IAM / access policies and compliance
Lead incident response and root-cause analysis, and improve system reliability over time
Optimize cloud costs and resource usage
Mentor junior engineers, review infrastructure code and set DevOps standards across teams
Keep up with emerging cloud-native technologies and AI-assisted engineering practices

Required skills and experience

8+ years in DevOps, cloud infrastructure or site reliability engineering
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure
Strong production experience with Kubernetes, Docker and Helm
Advanced Terraform skills
Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and other CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
Hands-on experience using Claude for infrastructure and automation work, such as generating and refactoring IaC, writing scripts, debugging and reviewing output critically
Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python or PowerShell
Solid understanding of Linux, networking (VPC/VNet, DNS, load balancing, TLS) and cloud security
Experience with GitOps tools (Argo CD or Flux)
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Good to have

AWS Certified Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
Experience with service meshes (Istio, Linkerd)
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible)
Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud setups

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Location and language

Candidates from Kerala are strongly preferred
Must be able to work from our Trivandrum office
Strong English communication skills, along with fluency in Malayalam (spoken) is preferred
