Role Overview

Phases is looking for a DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our Server Team and help build, secure, and scale the infrastructure that powers our products. This role focuses on cloud infrastructure, automation, monitoring, and platform reliability across hybrid environments.

You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure our systems are highly available, secure, and operationally efficient, while improving deployment pipelines, observability, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate has strong experience with cloud platforms, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure & Cloud Platform:

Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure across AWS, Azure, On-Prem and hybrid environments.

Manage and optimize cloud services including compute, networking, storage, and managed databases.

Configure and maintain secure network architectures including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, and access controls.

Manage Linux-based servers and virtualized environments using open-source virtualization platforms (e.g., Proxmox, KVM, or similar).

Manage Linux-based servers and production environments ensuring reliability and performance.

Perform infrastructure scaling, capacity planning, and cloud cost optimization.


Containerization & Platform Engineering:

Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes / Red Hat OpenShift.

Maintain cluster health, manage workloads, and ensure platform stability.

Implement best practices for container security, resource management, and workload isolation.

Support engineering teams in building and deploying cloud-native applications.


CI/CD & Automation:

Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.

Automate application and infrastructure deployments across development, staging, and production environments.

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

Manage environment configurations, secrets, and deployment workflows.


Monitoring, Observability & Reliability:

Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.

Establish proactive monitoring for CPU, memory, application performance, databases, and infrastructure components.

Define operational metrics and improve system reliability and incident response processes.

Investigate production issues and perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting.

Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.


Security & DevSecOps Practices:

Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and applications.

Manage IAM roles, access control policies, secrets management, and encryption practices.

Perform security audits and help maintain compliance with security standards.

Ensure secure configuration of cloud resources, databases, and network access.


Collaboration & Platform Enablement :

Work closely with backend engineers, QA teams, and product teams to improve deployment processes and system reliability.

Mentor developers on best practices for infrastructure, deployment, and performance optimization.

Contribute to improving platform engineering standards, documentation, and automation practices.


Required Skills & Experience

4–6 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

Experience working with Kubernetes platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift or managed Kubernetes services.

Strong experience with Linux administration and production system management.

Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

Knowledge of networking concepts including VPCs, load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs.

Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.th

Strong troubleshooting and production incident management skills.


Nice to Have

Experience working with OpenShift or enterprise Kubernetes platforms.

Familiarity with database administration and performance optimization.

Exposure to observability platforms, APM tools, or distributed tracing systems.

Experience implementing DevSecOps practices in CI/CD pipelines.


Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work under pressure during production incidents and system outages.

Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Documentation-oriented mindset for building operational runbooks and best practices.

Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
