SQL Support Engineer

Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Production Support Engineer with a strong background in MS SQL Server and SSIS to join our team in Kochi. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our data integration pipelines and database systems. You will handle incident management, troubleshoot complex ETL failures, and work closely with development teams to implement bug fixes.

Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Actively monitor scheduled SSIS packages and SQL Agent jobs. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve failures in a timely manner to meet SLAs.

Incident Management: Handle L2/L3 support tickets related to data discrepancies, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity issues using tools like ServiceNow/Jira.

Performance Tuning: Analyze long-running queries and SSIS packages. Provide recommendations for indexing, query optimization, and resource management.

Data Integrity: Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for data-related issues and ensure high data quality across production environments.

Maintenance: Assist in database deployments, patch testing, and environment synchronization.

On-Call Support: Participate in a rotational on-call schedule to support critical production systems (if applicable).


Technical Requirements
SQL Server: Minimum 3 years of experience with T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, and Functions.

SSIS: Strong experience in debugging and maintaining ETL packages, including knowledge of error handling, logging, and deployment models.

Database Administration: Basic understanding of SQL Server architecture, backups, restores, and security permissions.

Tools: Experience with SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and version control (TFS/GIT).

Support Experience: Proven experience in a Production Support or Application Support environment with knowledge of ITIL processes.


Preferred Skills
Experience with scheduling tools like Control-M, Autosys, or ActiveBatch.

Knowledge of SSRS (Reporting Services) or Power BI is a plus.

Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
