Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate certification or any Microsoft AZURE Data Science/ Data Engineer certification would be an added advantage
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our SQL Server environments, including large-scale databases and specialized applications such as SAP OpenText.
The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on database optimization, disaster recovery planning, backup management, and system performance tuning to ensure seamless operation of our mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Management:
• Manage, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• Oversee large-scale databases and specialized databases for application such as SAP OpenText.
• Perform regular health checks and apply necessary updates or patches.
2. Backup and Recovery:
• Develop and manage comprehensive backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Implement and regularly test disaster recovery plans, including failover and restoration processes.
3. Performance Tuning and Optimization:
• Analyse and optimize database performance by identifying bottlenecks and applying necessary fixes.
• Implement indexing strategies, query optimization, and partitioning techniques.
• Monitor and fine-tune database configurations and workloads.
4. Security and Compliance:
• Ensure databases adhere to security best practices and compliance standards.
• Manage database permissions and roles to enforce data access controls.
• Audit database activities to detect and mitigate potential security risks.
5. Troubleshooting and Support:
• Respond promptly to database incidents, including outages, slowdowns, or failures.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve database-related issues.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and recovery plans.
7. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
• Work closely with development and SAP Basis teams to ensure database compatibility and integration with applications.
• Stay updated with the latest SQL Server technologies and recommend improvements.
• Mentor junior DBAs and provide knowledge-sharing sessions.
