Senior Underwriter (Insurance)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Underwriter to assess and evaluate insurance risks, ensuring compliance with our underwriting guidelines and state regulations. The Underwriter will play a key role in making risk-based decisions, analyzing property data, and collaborating with brokers and agents to maintain a profitable portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

✔️ Evaluate new and renewal applications for homeowners' insurance policies to determine risk acceptability, pricing, and coverage terms.
✔️ Analyze underwriting data, including property inspections, loss history, and geographic risk factors, to make sound underwriting decisions.
✔️ Work closely with agents and brokers to provide guidance on underwriting policies and procedures.
✔️ Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with company guidelines, state insurance regulations, and industry best practices.
✔️ Utilize underwriting tools, models, and software to assess risks effectively.
✔️ Recommend policy terms, conditions, and endorsements as needed.
✔️ Maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors, such as inspection companies and data providers.
✔️ Assist in developing underwriting strategies to enhance profitability and manage risk exposure.
✔️ Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the homeowners' insurance market.
✔️ Provide mentorship and training to junior underwriting staff as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

✔️ Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
✔️ Prior experience in homeowners' insurance underwriting.
✔️ Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and policy rating.
✔️ Familiarity with state-specific insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
✔️ Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
✔️ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
✔️ Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
✔️ Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
✔️ Experience conversing (Voice process) with US clients/agents is mandatory

✔️ Should have good command of English - oral and written communication skills
