Security Analyst
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Security Analyst to join our Abuse Department. The role involves monitoring, investigating, and mitigating security incidents and abuse reports related to customer-hosted websites, servers, and domains. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, familiarity with web hosting environments, and a solid understanding of security and abuse handling processes.
Key Responsibilities
Review, investigate, and respond to abuse reports, including phishing, malware, spam, copyright infringement, and compromised accounts.
Identify and contain compromised websites, email accounts, and servers, and coordinate necessary remediation steps.
Work closely with customers to communicate abuse findings, provide guidance on mitigation, and ensure timely resolution.
Collaborate with internal teams (Security, Support, Billing) to ensure appropriate action on abuse cases.
Perform log analysis, malware identification, and blacklist checks to validate abuse claims.
Maintain detailed documentation of investigations, actions taken, and outcomes.
Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices in web security and abuse management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of experience in security operations, abuse handling, or a web hosting environment.
Strong understanding of:
Web technologies (HTTP/S, DNS, cPanel, WHM, mail servers, CMS platforms)
Common attack types (phishing, brute force, DDoS, defacement, injection attacks, etc.)
Malware cleanup and website hardening techniques
Basic knowledge of Linux command-line and web server configurations.
Familiarity with security tools and logs (e.g., ClamAV, Maldet, CSF, ModSecurity, Apache/Nginx logs).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
