Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Joomla Developer to take end-to-end ownership of maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting, and enhancing a portfolio of over 600+ Joomla-based websites for one of our esteemed clients. The ideal candidate must demonstrate deep expertise in Joomla CMS architecture, custom plugin and theme development, version upgrades, site migration, and performance/security optimization.

This role demands hands-on experience, a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on complex Joomla environments.

Key Responsibilities:
    •    Manage and maintain a large-scale Joomla infrastructure (600+ websites).
    •    Perform regular Joomla version and plugin updates across all sites, ensuring compatibility and code integrity.
    •    Customize Joomla themes and templates to meet unique design and functionality requirements.
    •    Develop and maintain custom Joomla extensions/plugins as per business needs.
    •    Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to broken layouts, plugin conflicts, or site performance post-upgrade.
    •    Ensure all Joomla websites are optimized for security, speed, and SEO.
    •    Implement backups, recovery plans, and version control for all updates.
    •    Provide detailed documentation of all changes, upgrades, and customizations.
    •    Collaborate with internal and client teams to gather requirements and deliver timely solutions.
    •    Conduct periodic audits to identify performance bottlenecks or deprecated features and plan remedial actions.

Required Skills & Experience:
    •    5+ years of hands-on experience in Joomla development and administration.
    •    Strong understanding of Joomla architecture, MVC structure, and template overriding.
    •    Expertise in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Bootstrap or jQuery.
    •    Proven experience in upgrading Joomla versions (including major version migrations like Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 or higher).
    •    Ability to develop and debug custom plugins, modules, and components.
    •    Familiarity with Joomla security best practices, database management, and server-side configurations.
    •    Experience working with version control systems like Git.
    •    Prior experience in bulk website management or multi-site maintenance environments is a strong plus.
    •    Ability to diagnose issues quickly and propose effective, scalable solutions.
    •    Portfolio of past Joomla projects (client or internal) is mandatory for assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:
    •    Joomla Certifications (if any).
    •    Familiarity with CI/CD tools for deployment.
    •    Knowledge of other CMS platforms (like WordPress or Drupal) is a bonus but not required.

Soft Skills:
    •    Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    •    Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
    •    Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
    •    Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
